BroadBand User Service Local Agency Subscription

"We're pleased that we subscribed. It's working well and we're very happy with it."
John Rees-Evans, Project Director, Hampshire Broadband Partnership

Point Topic's BroadBand User Service (BBUS) Local Agency Subscription is designed to give local agencies (that is, local authorities and similar bodies) access to all the broadband market data they need at a reasonable price.

The government's Digital Strategy and the growing importance of the e-society are driving local agencies to better understand take-up and usage of broadband in their areas.

The basic data which shows where your Local Authority stands in terms of total broadband density and household take-up is available here. A graphic view of how take-up varies across the UK is here and a map of where Local Loop Unbundling is happening is here.

This sample data is to the end of 2005.  We have recently published a number of updates to end 2006 as well as forecasts to end 2008 at SOA, telephone exchange and LA level.  You can see the range of reports and analysis available here and the maps, take-up data and forecasts here.

Further data from BBUS is an essential input for:
    • Developing action plans to achieve Digital Strategy goals.
    • Taking decisions about the scale and location of specific actions.
    • Evaluating action plan results.
    • Providing back up and confirmation for your existing data sources and research programmes.
    • Allowing you to benchmark your region against other similar regions or the UK as a whole.

To meet the special needs of local agencies Point Topic provides access to the complete BroadBand User Service from only £1,100 for a single user.

    Deliverables

Subscribers are able to access the following:

    • Spreadsheets of the subscriber data - available at all geographies (ward, SOA, constituency, exchange, LA etc) from postcode up helping you to understand your region and to benchmark it against others and revealing where your area stands in terms of key developments such as Local Loop Unbundling. You can see a brief guide and sample here.
    • Maps of UK broadband data - multiple geographies and KPIs available. Some samples are available here.
    • Overall UK internet statistics - regularly updated, again useful to help benchmark your region.
    • Access to the reports and analysis from the surveys themselves - unmatched insight into the national and local picture of residential and business broadband consumers. A sample output, one of more than 20 reports currently published, can be downloaded here (requires Powerpoint).

The Point Topic BroadBand User Service is already proving popular with local agencies as a key tool for advancing their digital strategy.

"It's an excellent report which we are delighted to share with our partners delivering the project."
Steve Cargill, Principal Project Officer, Lincolnshire Broadband
