Video service definitions

Broadband can deliver a wide range of video-based services. They are often lumped together indiscriminately, although they can differ greatly in how they are delivered and how they are used. This paper defines the main video applications that are already being used over broadband and those that are expected to be, and explains how they differ.

The applications are divided into two broad groups. Figure 1 describes those involving the delivery of pre-prepared content and Figure 2 covers those that support real-time communication between end-users.
