Internet Video & Voice Chunghwa Telecom IPTVChunghwa Telecom (CHT) is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Taiwan. CHT is listed on New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). In March 2004, Chunghwa launched its MOD (Multimedia on Demand) service, a bundled service that offered Video on Demand (VOD), Near VOD (NVOD), Karaoke-on-Demand (KOD) and live TV services in the Keelung and Taipei counties of Taiwan. It started conducting trials of MOD service with 20,000 residents of Taipei in 2001. After a relatively slow start, subscriber numbers had grown to over 1 million by the end of 2012. HDTV was launched in April 2008. Chunghwa also offers VoD and other content programmes via hiChannel, its technology platform and portal. Between 2011 and 2014, Chunghwa plans to expand its fibre optic network to the more remote areas of the Taiwan Island.
