Internet Video & Voice France Telecom IPTVFrance Telecom (Orange) is the incumbent telecom operator in France and was among the first carriers in the world to invest in ADSL. It launched ADSL services in December 1999. FT launched ‘MaLigne TV’ a TV-over-DSL service in Lyon (December 2003) and Paris (March 2004). In April 2005, the service was expanded to 100 other French cities, reaching to over 10 million more households in France. In May 2006, the company re-branded its IPTV brand as Orange by uniting its Internet, IPTV and mobile services under the common brand name. Currently, the operator offers ADSL broadband standalone services and bundles with speeds up to 18 Mbps. It has also recently launched an FTTX-based triple play bundle with speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Free-to-air TV channels and catch-up on demand are available to all broadband subscribers that can receive TV over DSL. France Telecom is also deploying a satellite TV service to reach areas where TV is not available via DSL. In December 2011, France Telecom launched its “Fibre Pro” offer for professionals, based on end-to-end fibre-optic network that offers symmetrical data speeds of 100 Mbps. The “Fibre Pro” offer includes fixed-line telephony, Internet and television services.
