Broadband Money Makers

France Telecom

France Telecom (FT) is the incumbent telecom operator in France and was among the first carriers in the world to invest in ADSL. It launched ADSL services in December 1999.

FT launched ‘MaLigne TV’ a TV-over-DSL service in Lyon (December 2003) and Paris (March 2004). In April 2005, the service was expanded to 100 other French cities, reaching to over 10 million more households in France.

In May 2006, the company re-branded its IPTV brand as Orange by uniting its Internet, IPTV and mobile services under the common brand name.

Currently, the operator offers ADSL broadband standalone services and bundles with speeds up to 18 Mbps. It has also recently launched an FTTX-based triple play bundle with speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Free-to-air TV channels and catch-up on demand are available to all broadband subscribers that can receive TV over DSL. France Telecom is also deploying a satellite TV service to reach areas where TV is not available via DSL.
