Internet Video & Voice Free VoIPFree is an ISP in France. It was established in 1999 and is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Iliad Group offering IP telephony, Internet access and IP TV as bundled packages to business and residential subscribers. All broadband subscribers can access telephony services. Subscribers can keep their existing France Telecom line, and in effect gain a second line with the VoIP service. This provides free calls to other Freebox phones and to most France Telecom lines. Free provides low tariffs to other operators’ lines in France, and gives subscribers reduced international rates. Free also provides a fully unbundled service. In Q3 2006, Iliad acquired FTTx operator CiteFibre, which consolidated Iliad’s deployment of optical fibre services in France. In Q1 2007, the operator launched a 28 Mbps triple play service based on ADSL2+ technology, while in Q3 2007 it launched a fibre-based triple play bundle with 100/50 Mbps speeds. In August 2008, Iliad acquired LibertySurf Group operating in France under the Alice brand. In January 2012, Iliad launched its mobile service offering.
