Internet Video & Voice NTT OCN VoIPNippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Japan. The company is one of the world’s leading telecom companies in terms of revenues and subscriber base. NTT has introduced VoIP services in response to offerings from Yahoo, KDDI and other competitive carriers. NTT Communications, one of the NTT companies, provides ISP services under the name of OCN (Open Communiations Network). VoIP sevice with OCN is branded as 'OCN dot Phone' (available for both ADSL and FTTX connections). For OCN subscribers with FTTX, 'OCN dot Phone Hikari' is also available. On the other hand, NTT East Japan and NTT West Japan provide VoIP service on FTTX (irrespective of ISP) called 'Hikari-Denwa'. 'OCN dot Phone Office' is an OCN VoIP service geared towards Small and Middle sized Enterprises. Custom made services are available for larger enterprises. In Q306, the operator launched three new services, ‘OCN dot Phone Office’, ‘FLET’S Hikari Premium - (Family and Apartment type)’ and ‘B FLET’S Mansion (Apartment) Type’ for its IP telephony subscribers. In January 2011, NTT’s mobile arm DoCoMo launched Japan’s first LTE service using Qualcomm’s MDM9200™ LTE/3G multi-mode chipset solution. The chipset supports UMTS, HSPA+ and LTE.
