Broadband Money Makers VerizonVerizon is a leading telecommunications operator in the US. It was formed in June 2000, with the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE (a developer of ADSL services). On 26 January 2009, Verizon announced to terminate its VoiceWing VOIP service by 31 March 2009. It stopped signing up new customers for VoiceWing. The company plans to launch a new VOIP service, FiOS Digital Voice that would replace the existing VoiceWing. However, no date for the service launch has been intimated yet. The company has also been developing services for its wholesale customers. On 20 August 2007, Verizon added eBonding and Web-based enhancements to Verizon Business SIP Gateway Service, allowing its wholesale VOIP customers to order service efficiently and quickly. The enhancements are aimed at streamlining the order placement, tracking and activation system. Prior to this, On 19 March 2007, the operator had offered its Carrier IP Termination Transport facility to its wholesale VoIP customers. Carrier IP carries the VoIP calls between IP network and PSTN network.
