Operator Source Tariff Benchmarks: Cable Modems January 2004Cable modem prices maintainedCable operators are succeeding in maintaining their prices for cable modem services in the face of competition from DSL. Point Topic's new cable modem tariff benchmarks show that monthly rentals and installation charges remained largely stable in 2003. Only a few of the 16 cable operators analysed altered their charges in the period covered, from the spring of 2003. Three operators JCOM (Japan), Casema (Netherlands) and ONO (Spain) cut monthly rentals in this period while only Comcast (USA) and TDC Kabel (Denmark) increased them. With the rest keeping tariffs fixed the overall average change was a fall of just 0.69% in the nine month period. Entry level prices for cable modems at USD rates
