Telecom Italia France, operating under the brand name Alice, was formed on 5 April 2005. This was after Telecom Italia bought a 95 per cent stake in Liberty Surf (Alice), the French subsidiary of the Tiscali Group, for EUR 280 million. In August 2008 Telecom Italia sold Liberty Surf (Alice) to Iliad.
