Operator Source 20 Mar 2012AOL BroadbandThe ISP business of AOL UK, trading as AOL Broadband, is now part of the Talk Talk group. As of March 2010, Talk Talk is operating on its own as an independent company, having successfully completed its demerger from Carphone Warehouse. AOL Broadband, along with Talk Talk, had formed part of the Carphone Warehouse group. Acquisition of AOL's customer base in October 2006 made Carphone Warehouse the clear number three in the UK broadband market at the time, behind only BT and Virgin Media. The migration from the AOL platform was largely complete by mid-2008, with only 118 AOL exchanges left, all but two of which were already TalkTalk exchanges too. As of 1 June 2011, AOL has 1,253 unbundled exchanges. AOL (UK) offers its DSL services via British Telecom’s telephone lines. The services were launched in June 2002 under the brand name ‘AOL Broadband.' The company launched its Internet services in 1996.
