Operator Source 29 Mar 2012AsterFounded in 1990, Aster Group started offering broadband services in 1998. Previously owned by Hicks, Muse, Tate and Furst, in March 2006 Aster was acquired by a leading Central and Eastern European Investment Fund manager Mid Europa Partners LLP. Aster was Poland's first triple play provider, offering television, broadband Internet and telephony services. It was the first operator to introduce digital CATV services to Poland and is the largest CATV operator in Warsaw and Zielona Gora. The company's network, which is largely return-path upgraded, is the third largest in Poland. In September 2007, Aster upgraded its broadband services by increasing speeds and additional features such as additional email addresses and web pages. In December 2010, it was announced that Liberty Global had won the right to buy Aster. The sale was completed in September 2011, and the merger of two companies took place on 1 January 2012.
