BTHC’s other main shareholder is the AIF. The operator has a majority stake in NTDN (National Digital Transmission Network), giving BayanTel access to NTDN's nationwide fibre-optic backbone which stretches for 2,762 km and is part-owned by six other major telecommunications carriers. In Q309, the company bid for the fifth 3G licence in the country and was rejected. However, BayanTel appealed the National Telecommunications Commission's (NTC) decision and won the case in Q210. In Q411, in preparation for the launch of 4G services Bayan Telecommunications were working on a proof of concept with vendors with the view of utilising the alocated frequencies in the 1800 MHz band.
