Following the organic growth plan, on 15 February 2010 Bharti announced plans to acquire Zain’s African units for a total consideration of USD 10.7 billion. The deal has now been finalised, with the final payment made to Zain in June 2011. Bharti has acquired all Zain’s African assets except for those in Sudan and Morocco. On 11 March 2010, Bharti made its foray into the Media and Entertainment business with the launch of Airtel Digital Media Business. This will provide the industry with secure digital distribution capability.
