BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.) is the market leader in the telecommunications sector in India. The company is India's largest public sector enterprise and provides services such as fixed telephony, mobile telephony, Internet, MPLS VPN and leased circuits. The operator offers its broadband service under the brand name ‘DataOne’.

On 27 September 2007, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. announced the uniform branding for all its products and services. This includes changing the logo and names of individual services to incorporate BSNL. The change was effective from 1 October 2007.

On 23 February 2009, BSNL launched 3G mobile services. Starting with one state, the operator plans to expand to 13 more cities by the end of April 2009. As of April 2009, BSNL is the largest 3G provider in the country, with no competition from private telecommunications firms.
