Its main focus involves providing services to multi-site corporates based in Ireland. The company provides DSL and WiFi services in the Eastern, Central, Southern and South Eastern parts of Ireland. In 2002, BT Ireland extended its fibre-optic network to urban locations providing alternative infrastructure options for Institutes of Technology and business parks in 11 locations in Ireland. The company also rolled out its ADSL services for local businesses and Internet users in Wexford at the end of September 2003 and launched DSL services in Limerick in 2002. In July 2008, BT Ireland switched on its Next Generation Network offering ADSL2+ broadband with speeds of up to 24 Mbps. On 31 August 2009 the Irish Competition Authority approved a strategic partnership agreement between BT Ireland and Vodafone. Under the partnership, BT transferred its consumer and small business broadband and voice customer base to Vodafone, and provides wholesale network services to underpin Vodafone's business. BT continues to focus on providing IT services to medium and large sized businesses and the public sector in Ireland.
