Operator Source 15 May 2012Cgates (formerly VDNET)VDNET was a brand name of UAB Viginta which was founded in 1991. UAB Viginta is 51 per cent owned by Advanced Broadband Ltd, a US-based company registered in Cyprus, and 49 per cent owned by SEB Venture Capital. In February 2011, VDNET merged with Cgates ("Kabeliniai Rysiu Tinklai" - KRT), following its acquisition in December 2010. In September 2011, Cgates announced the acquisition of Mikrovisata TV, a broadband and pay TV provider in Kaunas. From Q411, the company operates under the Cgates brand. After the merger, the company became the second largest broadband operator and the largest pay TV provider in Lithuania. CGates also offers analogue and digital TV and fixed telephony services to residential and business customers. In Q1 2010, VDNET launched LTL 3 million investment in the roll-out of its fibre network in Southeast Lithuania. Rapid network expansion and upgrades allowed the operator to provide broadband internet services with speeds of up to 300 Mbps.
