Chunghwa

Chunghwa Telecom is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Taiwan. As of February 2003, the Taiwanese Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) owned 95.3 per cent of the company. Chunghwa Telecom launched its first DSL service on 31 August 1999.
In August 2007, the operator announced that it was planning to repurchase 250 million of its ordinary shares representing a 2.35 percent stake in the company.
