Easynet
Since January 2006, Easynet has been part of the BSkyB Group, after being acquired for GBP 211 million. At that time, Easynet, an early Local-Loop-Unbundler, had its kit installed in 232 local BT telephone exchanges. BSkyB has used this as the platform for launching a mass-market LLU-based service in the UK.
On 10 May 2007, BSkyB, the parent company of Easynet, repositioned its different brands for three different markets – Sky for consumers, Easynet for large enterprises wanting complete network solutions and UK Online for SMEs. Easynet also offers its services through resellers such as Cisilion.
Easynet ceased to offer residential services and details of these have been removed from the Q1 2008 version of the profile. Equivalent services are being offered by UK Online.
Easynet was established in 1994 and was an independent public company before the takeover by BSkyB. It continues to offer its managed network and hosting services in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy as well as the UK.
