Operator Source 30 Mar 2012EircomEircom is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Ireland originally established in 1984 as a partially state-owned company. In November 2001, Eircom was acquired by Valentia Telecommunications, after which Eircom became a privately owned company. It was listed on the Dublin and London Stock Exchanges in March 2004. In August 2006, Eircom was purchased by Australian firm Babcock & Brown Capital Ltd (ASX-BCM) together with the Eircom Employee Share Ownership Trust (ESOT). In November 2005, Eircom acquired its mobile division Meteor, which is the third largest mobile operator in Ireland. In mid December 2009 Singapore Technologies Telemedia (ST Telemedia), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited, received shareholder and regulatory approval to acquire a controlling interest in Eircom in a EUR 140 million cash and shares deal. The sale of the Australian-based Eircom Holdings Ltd's shareholding in Eircom was concluded in early January 2010.
