On 1 May 2008, the Bolivian Government issued a decree providing for the nationalisation of Telecom Italia Group’s investment in Entel. In November 2010, Bolivia's government agreed to pay European holding ETI, the parent of Telecom Italia, USD 100 million compensation for the nationalisation, following the decision by United Nation's ad hoc committee. Entel holds a dominant position in the local telecoms market with 100 per cent coverage of the national territory. It controls 42 per cent of the mobile market through Entel Móvil and 90 per cent of the Internet market.
