FASTWEB is a broadband telecommunications services provider with operations in Italy. The operator has pioneered in the world in terms of combining the extensive use of IP (Internet Protocol) to offer integrated voice, data and video services over its fibre optic and xDSL network.
The company offers a wide range of services to all market segments ranging from large, small and medium enterprises, small offices and home offices to residential customers. The services include telephony, broadband Internet connectivity, video-conferencing for businesses and video-telephony for residential customers, virtual private networks (VPN), audio and video streaming, business-to-employee (B2E), tele-surveillance, digital and interactive TV and video-on-demand services.
The operator offers the same services to its residential customers via ADSL or fibre connection depending on availability. The operator offers its fibre-optic cable services with speeds up to 10 Mbps to its residential users as a package along with its TV and voice services. The package is known as FASTWEB Full.

In June 2006, the operator partnered with ADVA Optical Networking to deploy its Fibre Service Platform (FSP)2000 and FSP 3000 to build an advanced network.
Alcatel
In June 2006, FASTWEB signed a multi million contract with Alcatel to deploy Alcatel’s Optical Multi-Service Node (OMSN) systems and 1678 Metro Core Connect (MCC)equipments over its network. This will allow FASTWEB to improve its network capacity and support the increased traffic for its users.
Cisco
In April 2005, FASTWEB signed an agreement with Cisco Systems to implement Cisco’s routing and switching technologies over its IP network to offer broadband services based on flat-rate and pay-per-use tariffs.
Group Zurich Italy
On 15 Feb 2005, FASTWEB signed an agreement with Group Zurich Italy for technical collaboration that enabled FASTWEB to offer faster and more reliable connectivity to its subscribers.

On 25 Oct 2004, FASTWEB signed an agreement with Vitria to integrate and provide back-end management services related to broadband in its network of Italy.Under the terms of the agreement, Vitria would integrate FASTWEB’s existing systems for managing subscriber data, rates and product/service management and all back-end management functions, including billing, order management and customer care.

On 12 Mar 2003, FASTWEB signed a contract with Alcatel to use Alcatel’s optical multi-service nodes(OMSNs) to support and expand its DSL and cable network. The OMSNs solution increased the reliability and security of the network.
Omnitel Vodafone
In August 2001, FASTWEB and Omnitel Vodafone signed an agreement, which will allow Omnitel Vodafone, the mobile operator to use FASTWEB’s fixed-line, optical fibre infrastructure. This allowed Omnitel Vodafone to exploit the potential offered by the optical fibre network, thereby enabling it to handle the growing demand of transmission capacity in the mobile telecommunications sector.
Kreatel Communications
In June 2001, FASTWEB signed a supply deal with Kreatel Communications for IP-based broadband terminals. FASTWEB ordered a large number of Tornado/K5-terminals at a marketvalue of USD 15 million.
Stream S.p.A.
In March 2001, e.Biscom signed an agreement with Stream S.p.A. (satellite operator controlled by Sky GlobalNetwork Inc. and Telecom Italia) for the distribution of contents and programmes currently broadcast via satellite and cable using FASTWEB’s optical fibre network.
La UEFA Champions League
In September 2005, FASTWEB signed an agreement with La UEFA Champions League to broadcast La UEFA Champions League’s football matches live as pay per view package for its on demand subscribers.
World Cup Soccer 2006
In September 2005, FASTWEB announced to broadcast world Cup soccer 2006 matches live to its digital TV subscribers at an additional price.

In March 2001, e.Biscom and Universal Studios International signed a Video-On-Demand licensing agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, e.BisMedia (e.Biscom’s content provider) offered a wide range of filmed entertainment from Universal through its video-on-demand service.It also signed similar agreements with Discovery Networks Europe and 20th Century Fox in April 2001 and October 2002 respectively.
