The Finnet group consists of 27 local telecommunications operators and the Finnet Association. The Finnet Association is a trade and operational political interest group and co-operation forum of Finnet group, responsible for the supervision of the interests of its members. On 4 June 2007, the Private Equity firm 3i acquired a 25 per cent share in the mobile arm of Finnet, called DNA, for EUR 140 million from 18 local telecom operators of the Finnet Group. The merger of DNA Finland with five local operators already owned by 3i resulted in a 13 per cent overall stake of 3i in the Finnet Group.
