Operator Source 2 Apr 2012GO (Maltacom)Maltacom is a telecommunications operator offering mobile, Internet services, data and IT business services in Malta. It was incorporated on 31 December 1997 and took over all assets and businesses previously controlled by the Telemalta Corporation. On 7 July 2011, the company was 60 per cent controlled by Emirates International Telecommunications LLC (EIT), a joint venture between TECOM Investments and Dubai Investment Group (both are a part of Dubai Holding) with the remaining shares traded on the Malta and London Stock Exchanges. On 12 June 2007, Maltacom announced that in line with the re-branding exercise being undertaken by the company, the Maltacom Group shall be known as GO. The registered name of the company remains Maltacom plc. On 16 October 2009, GO announced the deployment of its 3.5G/ HSDPA network, making it the first company in Malta capable of providing a 7.2 Mbps mobile Internet connection. On 18 March 2010, the company announced a future investment of EUR 25 million in the deployment of the Next Generation Network which will allow it to provide services based on fibre technology. In November 2010, GO started the deployment of its Next Generation Network, launching a 100 Mbps broadband Internet service on a commercial trial basis in a limited number of areas in Malta.
