Griffin Internet

Griffin Internet is an ISP which offers internet connectivity and other services, including ADSL broadband, bulk bandwidth, managed server hosting, web hosting and security solutions, to retail and wholesale customers in the UK. The company was established in 1993 and started offering internet services in 1994. It provides wholesale services to over 200 ISPs and Telcos.

Griffin has teamed up with Tiscali to offer a range of products using Tiscali's LLU-based wholesale offer. The first products, offering 0.5, 1 and 2 Mbps, were launched in November 2007 at prices from below GBP10 for a product with 50:1 contention.

In 2007, Griffin was acquired by Octium, also based in Derby. Octium, which shares some investors with Griffin, is aiming to create a group providing a broad range of IP-based communication services to corporate customers. A report of the transaction revealed that Griffin employed 20 staff and had increased sales from £191,000 in 1999 to £3.2m in 2004.
