Griffin Internet

Griffin Internet is an ISP which offers internet connectivity and other services, including ADSL broadband, bulk bandwidth, managed server hosting, web hosting and security solutions to retail and wholesale customers in the UK. The company was established in 1993 and started offering internet services in 1994. It provides wholesale services to over 200 ISPs and Telcos.

In 2007, Griffin was acquired by Octium, also based in Derby. Octium, which shares some investors with Griffin, is aiming to create a group providing a broad range of IP-based communication services to corporate customers. A report of the transaction revealed that Griffin employed 20 staff and had increased sales from GBP 191,000 in 1999 to GBP 3.2 million in 2004.

On 14 October 2010, Griffin completed the acquisition of Fused Group, a converged solutions company. This will help Griffin increase its customer base and provide more service options to customers. Following this acquisition, on 18 January 2011, Griffin sold all the VOIP services of Fused Group to Microtalk since VOIP is not in line with their current business strategy.
