It is part of GTS Central Europe, the largest alternative telecom operator in Central Europe, which owns and operates five alternative carriers in Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary. In May 2008, GTS Central Europe was acquired by a consortium of private equity funds led by Columbia Capital, M/C Ventures Partners and Innova Capital. As of 1 October 2010 all companies in the GTS Central Europe (GTS) group operate under a unified GTS brand. GTS Telecom provides national and international solutions for data transport (MPLS, DWDM, SDH, IP), fixed voice, internet access and web hosting in its own datacenters in Bucharest and Oradea. The GTS own network exceeds 1000km of fibre-optics, in addition to its Ethernet and radio networks. The acquisition in June 2010 of telecoms operator Datek gave GTS an additional 400km of metropolitan fibre network, positioning the company as a significant player on the Romanian telecommunications market.
