Kabel Deutschland (KDG) operates cable networks in 13 German states and supplies its services to more than 9 million connected TV households in Germany. As a result, Kabel Deutschland is Germany's largest cable network operator. The company develops and markets triple play packages for digital TV, high-speed Internet and telephone. KDG also offers an open digital TV platform for all programme providers. The company operates the networks, markets cable connections and provides comprehensive services for all matters of cable connectivity.

On 20 September 2007, Kabel Deutschland announced the acquisition of local networks for EUR 585 million. These networks cover areas in 8 German Federal States (Bundesländer) in which Kabel Deutschland already operates level 3 (distribution) and level 4 (home) networks, resolving the existing separation of network levels.
