Operator Source 20 Mar 2012Kingston CommunicationsKingston Communications (KC) is the other incumbent telecommunications operator in the UK besides British Telecom (BT). The company provides its services in and around the town of Kingston upon Hull in the North East of England (normally known as Hull). KC is owned by KCOM Group, a publicly quoted company. Until it was launched as a public company in 1999, it was wholly owned by the Hull Corporation. The Corporation finally sold its last 30% of the equity in June 2007. In its Hull service area, KCOM uses Kingston Communications or KC as its business brand and Karoo as its consumer brand. It provides consumer and business ISP services throughout the UK as Eclipse and uses Affiniti as its main business services brand. On 18 November 2009, KCOM realigned its Affinitti and Kingston Communication services under one brand name, KCOM. This will enable the operator to position itself as a one stop communication provider for its business customers.
