Korea Telecom (KT), first established on 10 December 1981, is one of the largest providers of ADSL services in the world. KT is the major nationwide local call service carrier in Korea. It provides nationwide local and long distance call services, overseas call services, multimedia services and satellite communications services.

On 8 April 2009, KT rebranded its home service brand to QOOK. The operator will offer its existing MegaPass, MegaTV, home phone, and Internet phone services under the new brand name, QOOK.

On 15 February 2008, KT announced its plans to launch its KOREASAT No. 6 satellite in June 2010. The launch would facilitate satellite communication and broadcasting services.
