Magnet Networks is a telecommunication services provider operating in Ireland. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based private equity investment company Columbia Ventures Corporation, and a partner of Nordic total broadband solutions provider Industria.
The operator focuses on two key markets: the business market for broadband and voice and the residential market for Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) where high bandwidth connection is provided to support its services. As well as providing broadband services from 40 unbundled exchanges and TV services, the company provides PBX infrastructure, data connectivity and VoIP to private and public sector organizations.
Magnet launched its broadband services based on the FTTx network on 1 December 2004. It later rolled out its ADSL2+ services in September 2005, for both business and residential customers. In July 2007, Magnet Entertainment launched a host of new premium and non-premium channels, bringing the number available through Triple Play to 95. Magnet Networks is now Ireland's leading provider of triple play home entertainment services, and offers the most competitive all-in-one Triple Play deals on the market. At mid 2008, Magnet broke new ground in Ireland's residential broadband market with the launch of an ultra-fast 50 Mbps service.
