It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the US-based private equity investment company Columbia Ventures Corporation and a partner of Nordic total broadband solutions provider Industria. The operator focuses on two key markets: the business market for broadband and voice and the residential market for Fibre-To-The-Home (FTTH) where high bandwidth connection is provided to support its services. As well as providing broadband services from 40 unbundled exchanges and TV services, the company provides PBX infrastructure, data connectivity and VoIP to private and public sector organisations. Magnet launched its broadband services based on the FTTx network on 1 December 2004. In September 2005, it rolled out ADSL2+ services for both business and residential customers. Magnet Networks is now Ireland's leading provider of triple play home entertainment services. In mid-2008, Magnet broke new ground in Ireland's residential broadband market with the launch of a 50 Mbps service. Currently, maximum FTTH speeds reach up to 100Mbps.
