Moldtelecom is the leading telecommunication company in Moldova. It was founded in April 1993 and converted to a public company in January 1999. The company offers various telecommunication services such as video telephony, video conferencing, IP telephony and ADSL services. In June 2006, Moldtelecom applied for a 3G licence and secured it in July 2007. The concession, which is based on the CDMA2000 standard, is valid for 15 years.

In April 2008, the operator launched fibre based broadband services for residential and business customers. At the end of Q311, Moldtelecom's share of the country's broadband market was 71 per cent.
