Operator Source 8 May 2012Monaco TelecomMonaco Telecom is based in Monaco with operations in Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean and the West Indies. The company was established in 1997 by the Monaco government. In March 2004, Cable & Wireless acquired a 55 per cent stake in Monaco Telecom from Vivendi Universal for EUR 162 million. As of Q308, 49 per cent of Monaco Telecom was owned by Cable & Wireless, 45 per cent by the Société Nationale de Financement, which itself is wholly owned by the Monaco government and 6 per cent by the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque. In Q107, Monaco Telecom upgraded all its ADSL Internet services to offer download speeds of up to 15 Mbps. These were further upgraded to VDSL based 30Mbps speeds in June 2010. In September 2007, the Monaco Government and Monaco Telecom signed a 3-year agreement under which the State will invest EUR 4.5 million per year in telecommunication services, including the launch of VoD and IPTV services.
