NetCologne
11 November 2008
NetCologne is a telecoms operator in Germany offering unbundled ADSL, SHDSL and FTTH broadband access. In the initial roll-out in August and September 2001, NetDSL was available in Koln, Bergisch Gladbach, Bonn, Siegburg and Bornheim Merten. In the second roll-out phase, which started in October 2001, the service was extended to include Leverkusen, Opladen, Porz, Bensberg, Niederkassel, Wesseling, Bruhl and Hurth Pulheim. The company also offers TV services over coaxial cable.
On 23 January 2007 NetCologne launched its new FTTH network in the city of Cologne. Internet services with speeds of up to 100 Mbps can now be purchased, and TV services can be added to the subscription for an additional fee. The new network was expanded during 2007 to include 9,000 households in the inner city areas, as well as several business centres. At the moment, it is estimated that the network covers about 1,300 buildings.
