On 13 July 2007, NorthwesTel announced the acquisition of Whitehorse-based Northern Television Systems Ltd. (WHTV) from The Hougen Group of Companies. On 10 June 2011, NorthwesTel divested its share in NetKaster by selling it to Xplornet Communications Inc.
