NorthwesTel is a Canadian telecommunications company whose operations include local telephone services, long distance communications by microwave radio, fibre-optic cable and satellite communications. The operator also offers advanced data communications including high-speed Internet in many parts of its operating area. It provides services in the remote Canadian North West Territories, Yukon and Northern British Columbia.

On 13 July 2007, NorthwesTel announced its intention to buy Whitehorse-based Northern Television Systems Ltd. (WHTV) from The Hougen Group of Companies. NorthwesTel will upgrade WHTV's network and increase WHTV's capacity, targeting a total of up to 50 high definition television (HDTV) channels by the end of the year in Whitehorse.

NorthwesTel was established over 50 years ago and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Canada. Its subsidiary, NorthwesTel Cable Inc., provides cable television and Internet services to several communities in the Northwest Territories.
