Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Japan. NTT is the world’s leading telecom company in terms of its revenues and subscriber base. NTT has been forced to reduce tariffs because of deregulation of the Japanese telecommunications market.
NTT offers its high-speed Internet service on its FTTH network under the brand name 'B FLET'S'. In November 2005, NTT expanded its FTTH network with the aim of acquiring 30 million subscribers by 2010. In July 2007, NTT began testing an experimental Super 3G system for mobile communications. The company hopes to achieve a downlink transmission rate of 300 Mbps over a high-speed wireless network.
