Operator Source 2 Apr 2012PLDTThe Philippines Long Distance Company (PLDT) is the incumbent telecommunications operator in the Philippines founded in November 1928. The company’s charter, which extends until 2028, authorises it to provide almost every type of telecommunications service. PLDT launched DSL-based high-speed Internet access in Manila and Cebu in April and June 2001 respectively. In Q112, the operator's DSL broadband itnernet service alloweved the customers to browse internet at speeds of up to 8 Mbps. On 17 November 2011, PLDT launched Direct-to-the-Home (DTTH) fibre optic data services capable of delivering broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps in selected areas of Metro Manila. The operator aims to transfer all of its fixed line subscribers to its new NGN network by 2013. On 28 November 2011, PLDT announced it would launch public beta tests of its LTE mobile broadband service capable of delivering speeds of up to 76 Mbps in 30 sites in Metro Manila.
