Primetel PLC entered the Cypriot telecommunications market in 2004 when it was previously known as Primetel Ltd. It is 86.31 per cent owned by public or private companies, 8.57 per cent by private holders, 5.01 per cent by Primetel Co. staff and 0.011 per cent by Provident fund.

The operator provides customers with fixed and mobile telephony, Internet and television services as well as converged services including triple play (fixed telephony, Internet and TV). In Q211, Primetel announced plans to launch a quad play service which will combine fixed telephony, mobile telephony, Internet and TV.

Primetel provides Internet services over an autonomous fibre-optic network using ADSL2+ technology. In Q410 the operator announced plans to launch Internet services reaching speeds of up to 100 Mbps.
