Riksnet is a privately owned company which provides network and connection capabilities to institutions, SMEs and residential customers. The operator also offers broadband services to customers using existing local fibre-optic networks. Riksnet rents fibre from the municipality to connect apartment blocks.

Riksnet is situated in several towns in Sweden, with offices in Umeaa, Stockholm, Piteaa and Sundsvall. The cost of installing fibre networks can be quite high, so Riksnet has set up a subsidiary Riksnet Finans that advises customers on how to fund FTTx investments.
