2 Apr 2012Rostelecom Siberia

Rostelecom Siberia (known as Elektrosvyaz before 2001 and Sibirtelecom before 2011) is one of the largest telecommunications companies in Russia and the leading fixed line operator in Siberia, with a 69 per cent share in the Siberian telecom market. It is also the third largest of seven supra-regional traditional fixed-line telecom operators in Russia in terms of revenue.

In Q211, Sibirtelecom and six other companies were merged into one legal entity with Rostelecom becoming the successor in all rights and obligations of these companies. As of 1 April 2011, Sibirtelecom continues its operations as a macro-regional branch of Rostelecom.

Since 2010, the company has been investing in the expansion of its optical network (GPON). Services based on this technology are already available in Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Kemerovo, Novokuznets, Irkutsk regions and the territory of Republic of Buryatia.
