Singapore Telecom (SingTel) is an integrated communications service provider in the Asia Pacific region with two main hubs, Singapore and Australia. It is the incumbent operator in Singapore and owns over 99 per cent of the total telephone lines in the country.
SingTel offers its broadband services under the brand name SingNet Broadband. SingNet revised its DSL product range in 2002, concentrating on basic Internet access rather than value-added services such as video-on-demand. As of 31 March 2009, SingTel’s market share in the broadband Internet market was 48.8 per cent. In Q109, Singtel presented its 21 Mbps 3G service to the public. In Q110, SingTel launched its ultra high-speed broadband service based on GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) technology which is capable of delivering speeds up to 100 Mbps.
