Operator Source 14 Feb 2012SunriseOn January 23, 2001, the ISPs diAx and Sunrise merged to form TDC Switzerland AG, operating under the brand name Sunrise. At present, Sunrise customers benefit from mobile, fixed network and Internet services. The hybrid mobile network based on GSM, EDGE, UMTS and HSDPA provides flexible mobile communication services to over 99 per cent of the Swiss population and allows transfer speeds up to 3.6 Mbps. A high-performance fibre-optic network with a total length of more than 7,500 km makes it possible to offer an extensive range of high-quality voice and data services. In terms of broadband, Sunrise offers ADSL services in wholesale agreement with Swisscom to residential customers, as well as SDSL and VDSL services to business customers. Since June 2008, Sunrise also offers broadband services over its own network. This is due to heavy investment in unbundling of the last mile. In September 2010, CVC Capital Partners acquired Sunrise from TDC. With CVC Capital Partners, Sunrise has a new strong and long-term oriented financial partner which supports Sunrise's plan to drive investment in both network and customer services.
