Operator Source 29 Mar 2012T-MobileOn 25 March 1996, a consortium CMobil was awarded a licence to operate a GSM Mobile Network. In Q2 1996, Radio Mobil was established. The company launched commercial operations in Q3 1996. After a merger with T-Mobile in 2002, the name of the new entity was changed to T-Mobile Czech Republic. From 31 December 2009, CMobil B.V (controlled by Deutsche Telekom AG) holds the controlling 60.77 per cent stake in T-Mobile Czech Republic while TMCZ Holdco (Lux) S.a.r.l holds the remaining 39.23 per cent of shares in the company. T-Mobile offers a wide range of telecommunication services including fixed and mobile telephony, Internet and TV. In 2011, T-mobile continued expansion of its 3G network which covered 58.59 per cent of the Czech population in Q311. At the end of Q411, T-Mobile announced that it would start upgrading its 3G network to 42 Mbps download speed in 2012. In addition, the operator is trialling LTE network.
