TalkTalk Business

Formerly known as Opal, TalkTalk Business is a separate business unit of The TalkTalk Telecom Group catering to business customers in the UK. The operator offers a portfolio of voice, data, telephony systems and mobile services.

On 6 November 2002, the Carphone Warehouse Group acquired Opal Telecom in order to move into the fixed line services market catering to business clients in the UK. Since then, Opal has operated as a separate business broadband brand for Carphone Warehouse. The parent company, after the acquisition of Tiscali UK on 8 May 2009, merged the former's business-to-business division with Opal. With the acquisition of Tiscali, the business customers of its other brands - Nildram, Pipex and F2S were also catered to under the Opal brand.

On 5 June 2009, Carphone Warehouse announced its plans to demerge TalkTalk from its existing business by the end of July 2010. The demerger would increase the shareholder’s value in the firm, which is effectively operating as a separate entity. As of March 2010, TalkTalk is operating as a separate entity under the TalkTalk Telecom Group. On 1 February 2011, Opal was rebranded as TalkTalk Business.

On 12 April, 2011, TalkTalk Group announced the acquisition of Executel limited for an undisclosed amount. The acquired company will be merged with TalkTalk Business and is expected to add GBP 6.5 million to the company revenues.
