Telecom Argentina provides telecommunication services in the Northern part of Argentina and parts of Buenos Aires. Its majority stake of 54.74 per cent is owned by Nortel, whose majority shareholder is Sofora Telecomunicaciones. The latter has as its two main shareholders Telecom Italia Group and W de Argentina-Inversiones SL, the local Werthein family business.

Telecom Argentina has an unlimited term licence for the provision of basic telephony services, which includes fixed telephony services in urban areas and domestic and international long distance. It also provides data transmission, Internet services and publishes the nation's largest telephone directories.

The company provides mobile telecommunication services in Argentina and Paraguay. Its subsidiary, Telecom Personal, launched a 3G network in Argentina in May 2007.
