Telefónica O2 Czech Republic was formed on 1 July 2006 when the Czech incumbent Cesky Telecom merged with the leading mobile Czech operator Eurotel Praha. On 16 May 2011, Telefonica O2 Czech Republic changed its corporate name to Telefónica Czech Republic, a.s.

Telefónica Czech Republic operates the largest fixed and mobile networks in the country, including unique 3G, CDMA and UMTS networks, enabling the transportation of voice, data and video. Telefónica Czech Republic also runs the largest network of Wi-Fi hotspots in the country.

In Q111, the company teamed up with T-Mobile to expand 3G coverage and co-ordinate future network developments in the country. In Q211, Telefónica Czech Republic launched Internet services over VDSL technology with up to 25 Mbps speeds. In Q411, the company launched a double-play service which combines broadband internet and television services.
