Operator Source 29 Mar 2012Telekom MalaysiaTelekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is the incumbent telecommunications operator in Malaysia. It was incorporated on 12 October 1984. The operator offers DSL services to residential and business customers through its Internet Service Provider (ISP), TMnet. It plans to launch IPTV services by the end of 2009. In Q409, the operator continued the roll-out of its fibre-optic network. However, the growth of WiMAX technologies is expected to cause a dramatic change in Telekom Malaysia's share of the country's broadband customer base from 97 per cent to 77 per cent in 2014. In Q110, TM launched its high-speed broadband service, branded UniFi, based on the recently deployed fibre technology. In Q112, the company announced plans to invest MYR 3 billion in the expansion and development of its broadband infrastructure in 2012. Telekom Malaysia expects to expand its HSBB network coverage to 1.3 million premises before the end of 2012.
