Verizon runs its operations through three business units - Verizon Telecom, which caters to consumers and SMEs; Verizon Business, which offers complete communication solutions including networking, security, mobility, hosting and IT support to large businesses and government; and Domestic Wireless offering wireless services. On 27 January 2011, Verizon announced plans to acquire Terremark for a consideration of USD 1.4 billion. The acquisition will strengthen the managed IT infrastructure and cloud services portfolio of the operator.
