Versatel AG is a provider of voice, Internet and data services for both residential and business customers. The company has a strong local and regional presence in 12 of the 16 German federal states, and 32 of the 50 largest cities in Germany. Versatel’s network coverage extends across 280 cities and towns in Germany representing 25 per cent penetration. Versatel offers its services over a modern fibre-optic backbone stretching across 35,000 km throughout Germany – 26,000 km of which belongs to regional and city-level layers.
Versatel entered the Telecoms market in 1999. In the years that followed, a large number of infrastructure-based service providers were acquired, merged or broken-up. The Versatel AG of today emerged in 2005 when Versatel West-Deutschland and Tropolys Group merged their activities. In April 2007, Versatel AG was listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
