The Docsis 3.0 service, running up to 50 Mbps, provides the operator with a major competitive advantage. The service is now widely available in the UK market. Virgin Media also launched a customer pilot deploying a 200 Mbps broadband service in May 2009. The operator finally launched its 100 Mbps service in the first quarter of 2011.
