There were 21.3 million fixed broadband subscribers in Brazil at the end of Q4 2013. The annual growth rate was 11.32% while population penetration had reached 10.61%.

The Brazilian fixed broadband market grew by an impressive 11.32% in 2013, higher than all global region growth rates for the same period. Although the growth rate in the country has fallen in recent years, the relatively low population penetration suggests there is potential for healthy growth rates to continue in the future if investment is forthcoming.

As is often the case in a country of vast land mass, the Brazilian fixed broadband market is not dominated by one operator. Several ISPs were vying for first place in the market share stakes at the end of 2013 with NET, Oi and Telefonica on 29%, 27.7% and 18.5% respectively.
